ArtsRiot and Firefly Catering bring you Isole: The Story of Food.  This monthly supper club is a food anthropology journey. On a theme, we will offer speakers, music, dinner, and art.  Dinner will be served family style. We hope this collaborative atmosphere encourages conversation, sharing of food and ideas, and unexpected connections.

Please join us this month as we look to the the high mountain region of the Levant know as the Golan Heights. Come share some Arak, Druze cuisine, belly dancing, Golan wines, and of course an amazing dinner; all accompanied by the music of the Grup Anwar led by Anwar Diab Agha, master Arabic violinist, oudist, vocalist and composer.

The Golan Heights rise between the Sea of Galilee in Israel, and the Hauran Plateau in Syria. They prvide a vast reservoir of water to these regions and have historically offered a highly sought after vantage point for military forces. This mountainous region has existed for many years in territorial limbo between Israel and Syria yet even in this state it has developed into a thriving agricultural, and cultural crossroad and currently is home to an almost equal population of Syrians, Israeli’s, and members of the Druze religious community.

Come experience Isole – The Story of Food.
